Letterman Throws His Hat In The Ring, Leno To Be Blamed For Mess

January 20th, 2010 Comments off

The voice of reason, David Letterman decided to give his two cents on the whole Tonight Show debacle and he pretty much confirms what we’ve known all along, Leno is a terrible person. Recently Jay Leno urged people not to blame Conan for the late-night mess, reasoning that it’s his managers and agents who are to blame.

Letterman was quick to jump on Leno’s plea. During his show last night, he repeatedly and sarcastically looked at the camera and stated: “Don’t blame Conan.” He took the bit further, begging the audience for sympathy: “I know you think Conan pushed himself out of a job…He would never do that to himself.”

Letterman then snapped out of it, noting that throughout the entire debacle, nobody has blamed Conan. Laying it out there, he pointed out the obvious: If Jay had just taken responsibility five years ago, this mess would have been avoided. Everyone would still have jobs. Even Lonnie Donnigan.

Conan NBC Leno Fight Gets The Japanese CGI Treatment

January 19th, 2010 Comments off

You thought these Japanese CGI cartoons were only for those events we didn’t have video evidence in the Tiger Woods story, didn’t you? Well you are wrong. They’re back in full force for a story they really could have gotten plenty of actual video coverage from, but where would be the fun in that? And seriously, how can you deny that Coco, Leno and Jeff Zucker all morphed into comic book super heroes for the final fight?!

The NBC/Leno/Coco Showdown Continues

January 13th, 2010 Comments off

Letterman joins us with his two-cents on the NBC/Leno/Coco showdown.

The CBS host recapped NBC’s push to move “Jay ‘big jawwed’ Leno” back to late night TV. Letterman used a high-pitched voice to mock Leno and paid particular attention the programming “geniuses” over at NBC.

According to Letterman, it all boils down to money:

It’s all about money. And as nice a guy as Conan is, he’s a smart fellow. And he knows that if he takes a hike, he’s going to lose an enormous sum of money. So he just now says, ‘Well, I’m not gonna follow Jay. You guys do something about it.’ So now, NBC has to do something about it. And they have to do one of two things. They have to either pay him an enormous amount of money… this whole mistake over there at NBC has cost them hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of millions and millions of dollars. So now the last thing they wanna do–they just want Conan to quit and go away and for Conan to do a show in his basement. That’s what they want. That’s exactly what they want. But he’s a smart kid. He’s not gonna do that. He’s in there for the cash. Or they waive his non-compete clause so he can go to Fox or come here and take my job. Wait a minute!

And Coco isn’t leaving without throwing some punchlines.
